SwimLogger Terms of Use
Last updated: 13 October 2026
These terms apply when you use the SwimLogger app. By using it, you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.
1. Who we are
SwimLogger is run by fullmetalshep, based in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). Contact us at shepcustomdesigns@gmail.com.
2. Using SwimLogger
- You can use SwimLogger without an account. Everything you log stays on your phone.
- You need to be 13 or older to create an account. An account lets you back up your logs and use community venues.
- SwimLogger is for your own personal, non-commercial use.
- Keep your sign-in secure. You’re responsible for what’s done with your account.
3. Your logs
Your sessions, catches, photos and notes are yours. We only use them to run the app for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. They’re never shared with other anglers unless you share them yourself, for example with a share card.
4. Community venues
Community venues is a shared directory of fishing venues, their swims and their rules, added and edited by anglers.
What you can share. Only share facts about a venue: its name, where it is, its address, its website address, its rules, and its swims’ names and positions. Write them in your own words.
What you must not share:
- content copied from a venue’s website, a booking service, another app or any other source you don’t have the right to use. This includes peg maps and descriptions.
- a venue whose owner wouldn’t want it listed, such as a private syndicate or a club water with a secret location, unless you have their permission.
- anything about a private home, or personal information about anyone.
- anything false, misleading, defamatory, abusive, offensive, discriminatory or unlawful.
- spam, advertising, or anything meant to disrupt the directory.
Permission to use what you share. You keep any rights you have in your contributions. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free and permanent licence to host, show, edit, adapt and share them in SwimLogger, and to let other anglers see and edit them there. This permission continues if you delete your account. Your name is removed, but the venue details stay for others to use.
Credit. If you choose to be credited, your angler name is shown on venues you share. You can turn this off at any time.
Edits. Community venues work like a wiki: other anglers can change what you’ve shared, and we keep a history of every change.
5. Moderation and reports
- We may edit, hide, merge or remove any community venue or change, at any time, without notice. This includes anything that breaks these terms or that a venue owner asks us to change or remove.
- We may block an account from adding or editing community venues, or close an account, if it breaks these terms. You can still contact us if you think we’ve made a mistake.
- Report a problem on any community venue, or email us. We review reports and aim to act promptly.
- Venue owners and managers can ask us to correct or remove their venue by reporting it in the app or emailing shepcustomdesigns@gmail.com. We may ask you to confirm that you run the venue.
We don’t check community venues before they appear, and we’re not responsible for what anglers share. But we will act on problems we’re told about.
6. Accuracy and safety
SwimLogger is a guide, not a guarantee:
- Community venues are added by anglers and may be wrong or out of date. Always check details, rules, access and booking with the fishery before you go.
- Weather, pressure, forecasts, alerts, “Should I go?”, insights, the species guide and the fish care advice are for general information. They’re based on third-party data, your own logs and general angling knowledge, and may be inaccurate.
- SwimLogger isn’t connected with or endorsed by any venue, fishery, club, booking service or brand mentioned in it.
- You’re responsible for fishing legally and safely. That means holding the right rod licence, following fishery, club and close-season rules, getting permission to fish, and taking care around water.
7. Our responsibility to you
We provide SwimLogger with reasonable care and skill, but we can’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or that your data will never be lost. Back up anything that matters to you, for example with the export in Settings.
To the extent the law allows, we’re not responsible for:
- loss or damage that wasn’t foreseeable;
- loss caused by relying on information in the app, including community venues;
- business losses (SwimLogger is for personal use).
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
8. Changes
We may update SwimLogger and these terms from time to time. If we make a significant change to these terms, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using SwimLogger after that, the new terms apply.
9. Ending
You can stop using SwimLogger and delete your account at any time (Settings → Account → Delete account). We may suspend or end access to the account features if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.
10. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes go to the courts of England and Wales, but if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim there.
